Beds and Bars shows its support for Team Margot and the Atlantic Rowers during its annual Live Your Life and Pinkspiration Week 2019.
The hostel and bar-operator hosted a successful weekend of festivities across Europe to help raise awareness for a charity very close to our hearts, Team Margot. Held over a whole weekend and more, we want to say thank you to everyone who has joined us so far to celebrate and to help save a life.
The chosen charity for Live Your Life Weekend is once again The Team Margot Foundation, a charity that aims to raise awareness for the vital need of bone marrow donors, to help save lives of those suffering with illnesses such as blood cancer. Live Your Life Weekend holds significant importance to everyone at Beds and Bars as it’s also a celebration of the life of Franca Knowles, the late wife of Beds and Bars CEO Keith Knowles. Our annual event ‘Live Your Life’ was first started to celebrate Franca’s life and her commitment to charity and people.
To support Team Margot, twenty of our venues across Europe including Belushi’s and St Christopher’s Inns hosted fun, in-house festival themed parties and events over Live Your Life Weekend (26th – 28th July) such as beer pong, parties and live music where we invited local communities along to enjoy life. On the 30th July, the team at Beds and Bars will also be celebrating Live Your Life Day internally as a company at Belushi’s Greenwich, to celebrate Franca’s life.
This year, we extended Live Your Life events up until 30th July by participating in Team Margot’s ‘Pinkspiration Week’. For everyone who signed up to find out more about how they can save a life, we sent them a coupon code to get a free pink drink at Belushi’s Bars and our other venues throughout the week. ‘Pinkspiration week’ is in support of the Team Margot Team Atlantic Rowers, a team of four dads, who will be rowing across the Atlantic in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge this December with the aim of signing up 1.5 million people to the blood stem cell register. We will even be showcasing the Team Margot boat that the Atlantic Rowers will be sailing on at our company event on the 30th July at Belushi’s Greenwich.
On Live Your Life Weekend (26th – 28th July), we gave away 2000 free pink drinks to those who signed up to learn more about signing up to the stem cell register. Only a quarter of those that claimed a free drink said that they’re currently on the register, which shows a vital need to keep raising awareness and to get more people to sign up.
