Professional Journey: Emily’s adventure at Beds and Bars evolved quickly as she transitioned from her initial roles to becoming a Hostel Ambassador, a position that gave her operational experience and a better knowdledge  of the business. In 2015, Emily was promoted to Assistant Manager until 2018 when a vacancy as a sales agent in Group Sales was opened .

After 2 years in this role Emily was promoted to Senior Sales Representative when finally she got promoted to her current position as Head of Group Accommodation Sales.

Rising Stars Journey: In 2016, Emily decided to join the Rising Stars program, which she affirmed was a crucial experience for both her personal and professional development. Besides she initially hesitated to apply, Emily was encouraged by her manager. After hearing positive feedback from colleagues, she decided to participate. Some of Emily’s most memorable moments from the program include:

  1. Public Speaking: One of the most challenging moments for Emily was participating in public speaking. Overcoming her fear, she realized, “I can do this, I can do anything.”
  2. The Business Plan: Working on a business plan with colleagues that she had only met a few times taught her how to collaborate with people that have different experience and knowledge across the company, gaining a better understanding of the company’s operations. This project helped her forge lasting bonds and deepened her appreciation for the broader business.
  3. Flying a Plane: An unforgettable highlight from the program was getting the chance to fly a plane, which she described as “one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life.”

Throughout the program, Emily formed lifelong friendships with colleagues, such as Amy Daniels and Romeo Equipart, who continue to be part of the Beds and Bars family. These connections made the experience even more meaningful.

Rising Stars had a profound impact on Emily’s personal growth. It pushed her to step outside her comfort zone and acquire confidence in her own abilities. Through this experience, she realized she possessed skills she didn’t even know she had. Professionally, it gave Emily a new perspective on her role inside the company. She began to see the bigger picture and gained insight into the different departments involved within the business.

The program also extended her view of potential career growth within Beds and Bars, helping her to recognize the many opportunities that the company can offer.
