To help attract ambitious new people to the industry the BBPA has been involved in launching the Pub Chef Passion campaign.
Now, we have launched a new initiative, the Pub Chef of the Year Award. The award aims to celebrate some of the UK’s finest pub chefs and recognise the dedication, innovation and excellence they have developed from learning their trade through working in UK pubs.
First Steps
We also want to make sure Parliament recognises the pub trade for producing some of the best chefs in the country. So as part of the entry process, we have asked MPs to nominate pubs and chefs from their constituency. Being nominated, shortlisted or winning the award will provide fantastic benefits – not just to the chef, but also to their pub and your company as a whole.
We hope the campaign will be hugely successful, generating local and national media coverage. To achieve this, we need your help in encouraging MPs to nominate chefs in their constituency. We have produced a number of tools below to help you get involved:
1. Write to your local MP asking them to nominate a pub chef. Please use the opportunity to recommend any outstanding pub chefs in your company – and possibly recommend a visit to the pub to test out the fayre!
2. Publicise your call in your local media.
3. Ask your pubs to get involved – connecting them to local MPS with a message of why they should nominate the pub for the awards.
4. Social media aides: Twitter and Facebook are a great way to get pubs involved – Use the hashtag #PubChefAward and tag @beerandpub so we can get involved! With thanks and best wishes.
